TIPS, TRICKS AND TREATMENT TO THICKEN HAIR
I don’t care what anyone says - ‘Less’ is never ‘more’. More is more, particularly when it comes to your hair. ‘Hair thickening products that actually work’ has got to be one of the most googled anti-hair loss terms, yet most results yield sketchy snake oil salesman flogging phony products, and little to no actual advice.
Sure, we sell products, but we’re not going to spend our wordcount crapping on about those here. Our growth shampoo basically sells itself, what we’re offering now is actual industry-insider tips and tricks, simple things you can do at home to promote new, hair thickening growth.
The way you wash your hair, the way you dry your hair, the way you handle your hair - all have as much bearing on good, new growth as even the best hair growth shampoo. Here are the top hair care tips to compliment your ‘fuller, thicker’ hair products.
So let’s get started.
Step 1: WASHING
Believe it or not, it’s not some sort of conspiracy to sell products when you read ‘rinse and repeat’ on a shampoo bottle. Just as double cleansing is absolutely having a moment for your face, double cleansing has a myriad of benefits for your hair, too.
The initial wash removes dirt, sebum and product build-up, clarifying your scalp and priming your hair follicles to better receive the beneficial ingredients within your hair treatment shampoo. Once scalp and hair debris has been effectively removed at first wash, active ingredients that penetrate the dermis and get to work on a follicular level can work more effectively during the second wash.
Plus, like we said before - more is more, who doesn’t want a double dose of fine hair thickener?
When it comes to hair baldness treatment, it can feel as though you’re forever asking ‘what is the best hair loss shampoo?’ At the end of the day, any that contain clinical ingredients in optimal quantities are going to be more effective than supermarket and chemist based brands.
Look out for ingredients like procapil, baicapil, redensyl and capixyl, all over-the-counter formulas but with the bonus of having been scientifically proven in trials and studies. Emulsify the shampoo between your hands prior to washing, to ensure even distribution and no excessive build-up of product.
Shampoo, rinse, repeat.
Step 2: CONDITIONING
Typically, conditioners include slightly higher percentages of active ingredients, making it a non-negotiable second step for anyone after the best hair thickener for fine hair.
Conditioner is also left on for slightly longer, and this is not only an excellent opportunity for effective ingredient absorption, but also a chance to really work the ingredients into your scalp, stimulating the hair follicles at the same time.
Using your fingertips or a silicone scalp brush, give yourself a thorough massage. It doesn’t just feel nice, it also significantly increases circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrient rich blood to the follicles, feeding and fueling stronger, faster hair growth and a significant increase in density.
Rinsing conditioner out with a quick blast of cold water also invigorates follicles, in addition to sealing the cuticles along the hair shaft making hair appear smoother and healthier.
Step 3: DRYING, HANDLING AND STYLING
When trying to thicken hair it is important to protect the integrity and preserve the density of your existing hair mass. This means treating it carefully to limit loss and breakage. If hair is super thin or very damaged, it can be wise to gently pat dry after showering using a microfibre or muslin cloth. The fibers of traditional terry bath towels can be quite rough on already compromised hair.
Twisting, squeezing, scrunching, rubbing and brushing wet, thinning hair is no good. Take care to preserve what you’ve got.
It is also smart to triple target hair loss and turbocharge new growth with a final, extra step. RD1 is a pharmacological hair treatment to thicken hair, a powerful, cosmeceutical thicker, fuller hair spray. Scientifically formulated to block the formation of DHT, it improves hair anchorage and adds nutrition to the hair and scalp, significantly reducing hair loss and maximizing hair growth.
