The Best Labs In The World

From Bondi To The USA

There’s a lot to love about Bondi. The beach. The weather. The people. World-class labs, however, is not one of them. To make our products better than anything else out there, we had to to take our search for the world’s best labs global. They were hard to find. And even harder to work with.

Way back in 2014, the lab we contacted to make our styling range spent six months ignoring our calls and emails – it seemed like they only wanted to work with the big brands. So Patrick flew to Miami and drove out to their HQ. Fortunately for us, their CEO happened to be in reception when Patrick walked in. And recognising the accent from the endless voicemails, the CEO blurted out, “Wait… are you Patrick?”

Patrick convinced the CEO to give him five minutes. The conversation turned into five hours, and not only did they agree to make our stylers, but they also invested in the brand.

While we’ve got the vision for the best products, we can only make it a reality when we partner with the right lab. The best labs develop proprietary actives, run independent clinical testing, and spend years researching ingredients most brands will never even hear about, let alone gain access to.

Take our deodorant, for example. It’s made in a specialist lab in Texas that developed a patented odour-neutralising active designed to target odour molecules themselves rather than blocking pores. It’s an ingredient that took years of R&D to develop and is produced only by that lab. That’s the level we aim for across the entire range.

From the lab that makes our stylers in Miami, to the one that develops our moisturisers in New York, to the one that formulates our deodorant in Texas, over 80% of our products are made in hand-picked USA labs chosen because they are simply the best at what they do.

Our rule as a brand is simple. If we can’t make a product better than anything else out there, we don’t make it. And more often than not, the limiting factor isn’t ideas. It’s finding a lab capable of executing them. It might mean our DMs are full of product requests we can’t quite launch yet. But it also means that when we do release something, you know it’s done properly.
